Red is the colour of strength, resilience, and sacrifice.
It honours the courage of those who came before us. It recognizes the pain, struggle, and injustice that shaped the history of Black people across the world, from slavery to colonization and the many forms of exclusion and marginalization that followed.
Red reminds us that progress has never come without sacrifice. It represents the generations who endured oppression, resisted injustice, and continued to fight for freedom, dignity, and self determination. Their strength laid the foundation for the opportunities we pursue today.
For BMCC, red is also a call to action. It reminds us that our work must be bold, intentional, and rooted in advocacy. We carry forward the determination of those who refused to accept systems that limited Black people and Black potential.
Yellow: Wealth, Light, and Success
Yellow embodies wealth, light, and success.
It reflects creativity, energy, brilliance, and innovation. It is a celebration of Black entrepreneurs and leaders who continue to drive change, build businesses, create jobs, and strengthen communities.
At BMCC, yellow represents the bright future we are working toward. It speaks to the power of ideas, leadership, and collaboration. It reminds us that success is not only personal, but collective. When Black businesses thrive, communities grow stronger. When talent is supported, innovation rises. When people are connected to resources and opportunity, transformation becomes possible.

A Logo Rooted in History
The meaning of the BMCC logo cannot be separated from the history it carries.
The story of Black people across the world has been shaped by centuries of displacement, slavery, colonization, resistance, and liberation. The transatlantic slave trade dehumanized millions. Colonization continued systems of control and exploitation across the African continent and beyond. Even after formal slavery ended in many parts of the world, inequality and domination took new forms.
Yet this history is also a story of resistance.
Black communities have always fought for freedom, dignity, and justice. From liberation movements across Africa to struggles for civil rights and economic inclusion across the diaspora, Black people have continued to rise, organize, and lead.
