Rubin Alexander Coward, CD is a Canadian Armed Forces veteran and nationally respected community advocate whose life has been shaped by service, courage, and an unwavering commitment to justice. A former Senior Non Commissioned Officer in the Canadian Air Force, he served at CFB Borden, with Canadian Forces Europe and 4 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Headquarters, and completed a six month deployment to the Golan Heights in Israel. While serving at Brigade Headquarters, he held Top Secret Atomic Security Clearance as War Room Clerk, a role entrusted with responsibilities of the highest national importance.

Following his military service, Rubin transformed personal experiences of systemic racism into a lifelong mission of advocacy and action. For more than 35 years, he has championed the rights of individuals facing institutional discrimination, supporting military members, RCMP officers, public servants, incarcerated women, and vulnerable seniors. He has worked alongside legal and healthcare professionals across Canada and has prepared legal briefs for matters before human rights commissions and the courts.

In 2024, Rubin received the Tom Miller Human Rights Award in recognition of his dedication to people marginalized by discrimination and poverty. A lifelong martial artist of more than 55 years, he brings discipline, resilience, and compassion to his work and continues to advance justice, dignity, and community empowerment.
