Platoon Sgt. Pedro Aires Correia, Ret’d. CAF Reserve, was born in São Miguel, Portugal, and began his military service in the Portuguese Armed Forces, including deployment to Angola. He was honorably discharged as a 2nd Class Sergeant before later immigrating to Canada, where he continued a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and community advocacy.

Pedro has become a strong voice for veterans’ affairs in Manitoba and across Canada, contributing meaningfully to the Veterans Affairs Council of Manitoba and to national veteran initiatives. His dedication to those who have served has earned him significant recognition, including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Citizen Award on two occasions for his contributions to the veteran community.

Beyond his advocacy work, Pedro has played an active leadership role in community life. He serves as President of the Portuguese War Veterans of Manitoba and has held Chair and Board Member roles across multiple community initiatives. He is also a proud promoter of Portuguese culture and historical awareness in Canada, while supporting Indigenous reconciliation through his involvement with the Friends of the Peguis Selkirk Treaty.

Through public service, veteran advocacy, and multicultural leadership, Pedro continues to make a lasting impact in the communities he serves.
