The Manitoba government has announced a significant investment of $900,000 to strengthen and support Filipino community organizations across the province. This funding, announced by Labour and Immigration Minister Malaya Marcelino, comes during Filipino Heritage Month—a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Filipino community to Manitoba’s cultural and economic growth.
Minister Marcelino highlighted the importance of this investment, noting that Manitoba’s Filipino community continues to be a driving force behind the province’s success. The funding will support projects that create spaces for cultural expression, community connection, and economic opportunity.
Three key organizations will be leading these effort
Mabuhay District Inc.
Philippine Canadian Centre of Manitoba
Philippine Heritage Council of Manitoba
Together, they will establish a new Filipino business, cultural, and care sector hub, which will include plans for a personal care home for seniors and a child-care centre—two critical services that will directly benefit families.
Each organization will receive $100,000 annually over the next three years, ensuring consistent support for building infrastructure and programming that reflect the needs of the community.
Minister Marcelino noted:
By working together with community partners, we’re investing in the long-term success of Filipino Manitobans.”

This initiative complements the government’s broader commitment to workforce development and immigration support, further strengthening Manitoba’s role as a province where cultural diversity drives economic resilience.
Every June, Manitoba celebrates Filipino Heritage Month, a time to recognize the achievements, traditions, and impact of the Filipino community. This new funding reflects not only recognition but also concrete action to ensure future generations have the resources and spaces they need to thrive.
At the Black Manitobans Chamber of Commerce (BMCC), we celebrate this milestone alongside our Filipino brothers and sisters. We know that when governments, organizations, and communities come together, we create lasting change that benefits all Manitobans.
This investment underscores the value of diversity in Manitoba’s economic and cultural landscape. Just as BMCC champions opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and families, we are proud to see similar support being extended to other communities that call Manitoba home.
