How To Protect Yourself From Bank Impersonation Scams

Be Alert Don’t Fall for Bank Impersonation Scams

Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, often impersonating trusted institutions like banks.

It’s important to know that a legitimate bank representative will NEVER do the following:

    • Ask for your debit/credit card numbers, PINs, one-time passcodes, or other sensitive information via phone, email, or text.
    • Request that you send money or initiate any type of transaction, including e-transfers.
    • Tell you to complete actions like ‘secure your profile’ by transferring money to yourself or to the bank.
    • Pressure you to share sensitive information.
    • Ask you to download remote access applications.
    • Ask you to send your card to anyone by courier.
    • Discourage you from contacting your bank directly or checking your account via official channels.

If You Encounter Any of These Requests

It is very likely a scam.

Verify Before You Act

  •  Be cautious with unsolicited phone calls, emails, or messages.

  • If you suspect fraud, hang up and call the number on the back of your bank card.
  • Visit the official website or contact your bank directly through secure, verified channels.
