Devon Clunis served the Winnipeg community with distinction for 29 years in the Winnipeg Police Service, retiring in 2016 as the city’s Chief of Police. Following his service, he was appointed Inspector General of Policing in Ontario, where he led the development of the Inspectorate of Policing, the first oversight body of its kind in Canada. Throughout his career, he has played a significant role in advancing public safety, including chairing the Steering Committee for the Manitoba government’s Public Safety Training Strategy and contributing to the implementation of best practices in policing across both Canada and the United States. Recognized for his leadership in stakeholder engagement, community safety strategies, and policy development, Mr. Clunis continues to support organizations and police services across North America. He is also a co author of two children’s books, The Little Boy From Jamaica and The Little Girl From Osoyoos, written with his wife Pearlene to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. His upcoming autobiography, ONE, scheduled for release on February 1, 2025, reflects on leadership, diversity, and the social challenges shaping our communities today.
