Andrew Carrier is a proud Navy veteran and distinguished Métis leader whose life has been defined by service, leadership, and commitment to community. He began serving Canada in 1975 when he joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves. As a Boatswain and Ships Diver, he rose to the rank of Master Seaman, demonstrating the discipline, courage, and dedication that continue to shape his leadership today.

Following his military service, Andrew dedicated himself to public service and nation building. First elected in 2000 to the National Government of the Red River Métis through the Manitoba Métis Federation, he now serves his eighth term as Vice President of the Winnipeg Region and as a member of the MMF Cabinet. He holds important ministerial responsibilities in Community Resources, Michif Language Revitalization, French Language Services, Riel House, and initiatives supporting Métis Residential and Day School Survivors. He also serves as Associate Minister of Economic Development.

Andrew’s leadership extends beyond elected office. As Chair of the Indigenous Leadership Development Institute and Métis representative on the Governing Circle of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, he continues to help shape policy, preserve culture, and advance economic empowerment. His journey reflects a lasting commitment to service in uniform, in governance, and in support of his people.
